Snow

Solly's first experience of snow went almost unnoticed by him. Though he did seem mildly confused by it.

Journey to Norway

PS The 12 hour journey here, alone with my son, was manageable. A floor mat and sling, plus a few toys, were my most essential items...after nappies...and I discovered that changing rooms provide much needed quiet, and changing a nappy on a plane is slightly challenging when there is turbulence!

Norwegian wood

The boy slept well last night though unfortunately woke before six because I moved him. He'd managed to roll from his back to his side to his front. Right in the middle of our shared half of the bed!

This morning I enjoyed a sunny flip flopped walk through the woods to a Pilates class, without the boy who I left napping with his daddy. I walked back alone and felt a sense of peace and happy solitude.

I am home now with just the man and a napping child. It is hot and sunny. I can hear birds singing, distant traffic that could almost be a raging river across the valley, the gentle hum of the dishwasher (machine, not the man!!) and a ticking clock. I am contented and about to settle with my book and a nice cup of tea.

Reasons my son laughs or smiles

Pretty much anything. :-)

Reasons my son cries

Stealing his snot by trying to wipe his nose.

Stealing his food by wiping it off his face or clearing it off the floor.

(Possibly) stealing his hands when I put them in sleeves.

Trying to help him sleep without putting him in the sling, car or pushchair.

(Sometimes) trying to help him sleep by putting him in the car or pushchair.

When he's sitting in poo.

(Occasionally) taking him to new places with people he's not met before.

(Rarely but occasionally) for no apparent reason.

Food update

The boy seems to prefer feeding himself with finger food. Current favourites are toast with avocado, chicken, boiled mushroom, broccoli stem and rice cakes.

I tried apple puree again. He tipped it over his head and tried to eat the bowl. I put some on his rice cake and he threw it away... Apples? Ugh!
